Time Will Change

Greetings, brothers and sisters. I’m Brother Andre Glanville. Born and raised in Washington, D.C., I attend the Baltimore Temple. Truly, God is magnificent, spectacular, and worthy of all praise.

I am a self-taught landscape artist who finds deep joy and fulfillment in capturing the beauty of God’s creation. With every brushstroke, I aim to reflect His glory and the wonder of the world He has made.

I’ve been painting for about five years, and the journey has been astonishing. I began without the ability to draw stick figures, but through persistence and God’s grace, I’ve grown in ways I never imagined. I now see myself in a new light — with humility and gratitude to the Almighty.

I am especially thankful to the Holy Times magazine for showing interest in my artwork.

During a phone conversation, Brother Douglas Imaralu, the magazine’s Editor-in-Chief, shared the theme of this edition: “Change.” Accompanied by the scripture from Job 14:14, he asked me how I might represent that concept through landscape art.

As he spoke, I felt a surge of excitement. A new challenge awaited me — one that would allow me to express my gratitude to God through the canvas.

After much thought and prayer, I began to envision how to illustrate the word “Change” in a way that honored the scripture. With joy and inspiration, my brush came alive, each stroke a testament of thanks to God.

One of the first things that came to mind after reading the scripture was “Time.” Time is often essential for meaningful change in a person’s life.

Transformation doesn’t happen overnight — it requires patience, growth, and endurance. And while we wait for that change, time continues to move forward. The seasons shift, the weather fluctuates, and life unfolds — like the temperature rising and falling, from cold to hot, in a continual change cycle.

Winter is the coldest and darkest season, often associated with stillness, reflection, or struggle. In contrast, Summer is the brightest and warmest, symbolizing vitality, growth, and light. Both seasons serve a purpose and reflect different phases of life.

This led me to a spiritual question: Which season reflects your current state? Or, more importantly, what kind of change do we truly need? That’s a lifelong journey — one only God can fully reveal to the human family.

In my painting, I chose to illustrate Winter and Summer on either side of a golden clock placed at the center of the canvas. The clock symbolizes time — God’s time — and the ongoing transformation process.

I invite the audience to observe the contrast between these two seasons and imagine the spiritual process that bridges them. Each person may interpret it differently, and that’s the beauty of the journey.

May this artwork spark reflection, inspire faith, and encourage a deeper look into the divine timing of change.

With humility and love,
